On the 23 of April Barcelona - and everywhere else in Spain - celebrate Saint Jorge's Day, which is the Spanish Valentine's Day. All along Las Ramblas there will be many flower stalls selling red roses and just as many book stalls. On this day men give a red rose to the woman they love and women give a book in return. The rose is the symbol of love and the book means forever. In fact La Dia de Sant Jorge is also known as La dia de la rosa (the day of the rose) or La dia del libre (the day of the book). In modern times, it is not uncommon for women to receive a book as well as a rose. After all the tradition has been alive since the Middle Ages, things have changed quite a bit since then!
