The amount of sporting events taking place in Barcelona is one of the reasons why I love this city so much. This week it is the turn of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell, an important appointment in the Tennis Masters tour. Unfortunately the five time consecutive winner and Spanish favourite Rafael Nadal is unable to defend his title after withdrawing from the tournament to rest his knees. That said the race to the title is open to other players, who have more of a chance to grab it without the King of Clay in the equation. And with names like Fernando Verdasco, Juan Carlos Ferrero and David Ferrer you can rest assured the action will be hot. For the order of play and tickets visit the ATP website.
