First held nearly 200 years ago, the Gràcia district’s main festival, which has been declared a Traditional Festival of National Interest, with its sumptuously decorated streets and squares, has become one of the most important Catalan festivals and a cultural benchmark for the region. Over a seven-day period, the locals in this former village fill the neighbourhood with light, colour and imagination with their decorations, which are the result of many months’ work designed to give life and continuity to a Mediterranean festival that brings together Gràcia residents and visitors alike.
