Once again, the MACBA provides a line of work based on recovering the works of this country’s relevant artists, focusing on works which are little-known but relevant with regard to their career. Within this context comes the presentation of ‘In the labyrinth’, a labyrinth of 10 metres diameter and transparent yellow plastic walls which allow viewers to go into the exhibition and, thus, be a part of Àngels Ribé’s exhibition. The exhibition explores the art that this Catalonian artist produced between 1969 and 1984, a period which corresponds to the beginning of her artistic activity, in which she consolidated her own narrative medium by means of diverse supports and materials. Ribé lived in Paris and the United States, and her art is based on the exploration of space as environment, as journey or as medium. For this she tends to use unconventional materials such as water, foam, light and shade. She also worked in the fields of performance and installation, in a parallel manner.
