Alongside the Josep Pla exhibition, the Palau Robert has programmed an exhibition dedicated to another writer. In this case, the Hungarian Sándor Márai, one of the most important writers in 20th century European literature. Márai was born in 1900 and lived in Hungary, Germany, France, Italy and the United States. In the 1930s, thanks to his clear and realistic style, his name began to shine on the literary scene. After the Second World War he fled into exile in the United States, as the Communist regime considered him to be a bourgeois author. In the 1990s he was rediscovered by the Western World and his works have been translated to many other languages. During this exhibition we will view the life and works of this great author by a confrontation of both aspects. This duality is emerges through mosaics which include images, texts and fragments of his works and also build a portrait of the author. The exhibition concludes with a projection of several fragments from the documentary “Marái Sándor" by Sipos József.
