You cannot visit Barcelona without taking a wander around the market of St. Joseph best known as Bouqueria. Half way down La Rambla, this market is the largest in Barcelona and is set within a 19th century structure made of a mixture of glass and iron. There you will find every kind of food displayed in such a way to make your mouth water, from the typical Spanish cheeses and sausages to very well assorted fish and seafood stalls, every type of meat, sweets, spices and much more.

For me the best part was the fruit and vegetables section, very colourful stalls where the fruit and vegetables are arranged almost artistically. You can buy large quantities or just lunch boxes of delicious mangoes, strawberries, peaches and all types of fruit imaginable. You can even have a freshly made juice or enjoy a spot of lunch at one of the market bars serving all sorts of tapas, particularly good are the ones serving fresh seafood tapas. Make sure you visit during the week because it's closed on Sundays. Opening hours: 8am to 8.30pm.
