La Sagrada Familia was Gaudi's dream to which he devoted most of his life. At the time of his death in 1926 only one of the towers had been completed. The continuation of Gaudi's work has become an unmistakable symbol of Barcelona. Building work began in the late 19th century and is still in progress, founded by churchgoers and devotees and through ticket revenue frrom visitors.
