The Olympic Port is the result of the greatest urban transformation that took place in this area for the 1992 Olympic Games, with the construction of the Olympic Marina and the regeneration of its surroundings. It was used for the sailing competitions, and is the site of block of flats which housed the athletes. It is now a modern seafront neighbourhood, with reclaimed beaches for swimming and public use. The marina has over 700 mooring points and comprises a major leisure and dining complex. This area is very popular with tourists and Barcelonians alike, with people strolling along the marina, running, cycling or roller blading along the long stretch which is ideal for outdoor activities. Music and cultural events often take place here during summer evenings.
